Contributed English to Traditional Chinese marketing and platform localization for Ubisoft, Xbox Game Pass, and the PlayStation Store through SYGYZY Information Services, handling press releases, website content, game descriptions, and store listings across three of the biggest names in the games industry simultaneously.
Marketing and storefront localization is a completely different discipline from in-game text. Where game dialogue needs to feel natural and immersive, marketing copy needs to sell. A store listing has maybe three sentences to convince someone to buy or download a game, and a press release has one shot at landing a specific message with the right energy. Translating that intent into Traditional Chinese while keeping the persuasive punch of the original requires a different set of instincts than localizing dialogue or UI strings.
Working across Ubisoft's diverse game portfolio meant staying attuned to each franchise's distinct personality and audience. Covering both Xbox Game Pass and the PlayStation Store simultaneously added another layer, since Microsoft and Sony present their storefronts differently and speak to their audiences differently. The localization needed to reflect those distinctions rather than apply a one-size-fits-all approach.
Combined, these three clients reach hundreds of millions of players and consumers worldwide, making this engagement one of the highest-visibility localization works I've been part of.
