Sonic Prime Dash

Contributed English to Traditional Chinese localization for Sonic Prime Dash, an endless runner mobile game developed by SEGA HARDlight exclusively for Netflix Games, released July 13, 2023 to coincide with the second season of the Sonic Prime animated series on Netflix. Handled localization across in-game text and game materials, ensuring character names, zone names, ability descriptions, and UI strings from the Sonic Prime universe read naturally and consistently for Traditional Chinese-speaking players.

The project presented an interesting localization challenge in that Sonic Prime Dash introduced entirely new alternate universe versions of familiar Sonic characters, each with their own distinct names and personalities. Keeping these new character identities clear and consistent in Traditional Chinese while staying faithful to how the classic Sonic cast is already known to Chinese-speaking fans required careful glossary management and close attention to the show's established lore.

The game supports Traditional Chinese among its available languages, and is available exclusively to Netflix subscribers on iOS and Android. The Sonic Dash franchise it is based on has accumulated over 500 million downloads across all its versions, making it one of the most downloaded mobile game series in history.
